Part of the Zermatt Residences, Chalet Castor is the perfect Zermatt mountain getaway for friends and families. It is located high up on the side of the Zermatt valley, just 200m from the Matterhorn Express lift station - so ski access is great. What's more, the chalet apartment is tucked against a beautiful hillside, so the numerous balconies and large terraces give you bird's eye views of the village and the surrounding mountains, encompassing all three of Zermatt's ski areas.

Overview

Chalet Castor is a rare gem, surrounded by the snow-capped mountains in Zermatt. With 4 double bedrooms, sleeping up to 8 guests, this luxury chalet is perfect for friends and families. Chalet Castor is one of four unique free-standing chalets alongside Chalet Gemini, Chalet Pollux and Chalet Ibron, which together can host groups from 16 – 34 guests. Chalet Castor is immediately opposite Chalet Gemini which sleeps 10.

Upon your arrival, the tunnel and elevator bring you up high above the village providing a true sense of high mountain seclusion and tranquillity with breathtaking views. Although it does not have a direct Matterhorn view, the chalet is bathed in sun as soon as it emerges.

The chalet is bathed in light which creates a warm and inviting space and has a wonderful blend of rustic and contemporary interiors. On the ground floor, you have the sitting room and an open-plan kitchen with the dining table, which open out onto the terrace, through the French windows. There is no better place to relax after a day on the slopes than in your own unique private outdoor hot tub surrounded by snow (depending on snow conditions).
It feels very modern and has all the latest technology with flat-screen TVs, more than a hundred satellite channels, a feature jet black fireplace and geothermal heating to reduce the chalet’s carbon footprint. Each of the 4 double bedrooms are a delight and features flat-screen TVs and offers far-reaching views over the village below.
Should you choose to take the chalet on a fully catered basis a gourmet chef and experienced chalet host will be on hand to ensure your stay is perfect. Your day will start with a wonderful cooked and continental breakfast and on your return from skiing afternoon tea will be laid out ready for you to sample. On six nights of your stay, a delicious 4-course evening meal is served, accompanied by an outstanding selection of fine wines and an open bar.
Guests can leave their skis and boots in the tunnel’s ski room. The entrance to the tunnel is 200 metres from the end of the ski runs beneath the Matterhorn Express lift station, just a 4-minute walk from the church square.

KIDS

Chalet Castor is centrally located, close to both the village centre and ski lifts, however it’s stunning hillside location does mean that it is not suitable for families with children in buggies or in need of constant childcare, as it is not easy to access.

Older children of five and over will love the hot tub and the cool modern living area. Plenty of space inside with all manner of entertainment – TVs in every room, DVDs and board games.

Childcare can also be easily arranged by your concierge, so you get adult leisure time. Supper is as hassle-free as it gets, as the chef is happy to prepare child friendly meals, served at whatever time in the evening suits.

Location

The front door of Chalet Castor is just 2 minute walk (200m) from a lift carved into the mountain. Take the lift to street level, then you’re within another 2 minute walk of the Matterhorn Express Lift station. Zermatt town centre is a 10 minute walk away. An electric taxi will can be called to transport your luggage or shopping whenever needed. Zermatt is a car free resort, so access is usually via the mountain train from the valley below. We can always arrange for guests to be picked up by a private vehicle that will bring you all the way to Zermatt main train station. The nearest airport is Sion, 1hr 30 minutes away and Zurich and Geneva are 3hrs 30 minutes.
