WHEN TO VISIT ZERMATT
Zermatt is a year-round resort, but best time to visit is early December to mid-April.
BEGINNERS
Zermatt may be known for its challenging terrain, but it’s also great for beginners. The Wolli Park, located on the Sunnegga side high up the mountain, ensures reliable snow all season. Easily accessible by funicular, it features moving carpets, pomma lifts, a picnic pavilion, and nearby restaurants where parents can relax and watch. Families will appreciate that children under 10 ski for free, offering excellent value. For those regaining confidence, the glacier’s wide, cruising runs provide ideal practice. Off the slopes, Zermatt offers family-friendly activities, including an ice rink, snow tubing on the Klein Matterhorn, and the exhilarating Rotenboden to Riffelberg sledging run, descending 234 vertical meters with spectacular views.
WHO IS ZERMATT BEST FOR?
Zermatt is one of the best choices for confident skiers and non-skiers. Beginners can learn in the snow-sure Glacial Paradise ski area.
