Nestled away from the hustle and bustle in the heart of Winkelmatten, Chalet Alex is perfect for friends and family looking for a luxury escape to Zermatt. With a shared swimming pool and wellness area, the apres ski never looked so relaxing. Plus, for advanced skiers, it makes the perfect spot as, when snow permits, you can ski back to the apartment (off-piste).
Overview
Chalet Alex is one of Zermatt’s hidden treasures. Its perfect positioning allows views of the world-renowned Matterhorn that are arguably some of the best in the resort. Chalet Alex occupies the top two floors of Chalet Shalimar, and is the perfect apartment for a group of family or friends, sleeping 12 across 6 double/twin bedrooms. You enter the apartment on the first floor which is the main sleeping floor. A lift takes you up to the living area and dining area which are wonderfully spacious and bright.
Traditional alpine wood and timber can be seen throughout the chalet, which has been paired with specially selected soft furnishings, creating a relaxing and cosy atmosphere. The top floor is where you will find the spacious living and dining rooms, which have floor-to-ceiling sliding doors allowing plenty of light to fill the room.
Head out onto the spacious balconies where you can take in the breathtaking views of the Matterhorn providing the perfect backdrop for a pre-dinner drink. Then unwind on the comfortable sofas in front of the fire before dinner.
The luxury Chalet Alex is a haven of serenity and calm. The shared wellness and spa area is at the heart of the property with an indoor swimming pool that provides wonderful views of the Matterhorn. There is also a sauna, hammam, and a massage room all on the ground level of the chalet – the perfect place to soothe any tired legs after a day exploring the mountain.
This luxury chalet sleeps up to 12 people in six twin/double bedrooms, all with en-suite bath and shower rooms. Each bedroom can be configured as a double bedroom with single duvets.
The chalet is available on a catered or self-catered basis.

Location
Chalet Alex is found in the Winklematten area of Zermatt, and keen skiers can ski to and from the property (weather permitting). The centre of Zermatt is a 15-minute scenic walk away or a short ride in an electric taxi. The chalet is approximately 3h and 30m from Geneva & Zurich airport, however, the closest airport is Sion at 1h 30m away. As Zermatt itself is pedestrianised, taxis and shuttle trains are available to take you the last 10 minutes of your journey from Täsch. If you choose to drive or hire a car there is secure parking just 5km outside of Zermatt in the village of Täsch.
