St Martin de Belleville: A Family-Friendly Gem

Anna | December 29, 2022

After visiting St Martin de Belleville, The Chalet Edit’s Sales and Marketing Specialist, Chris Ashwell, gives his view on what makes this resort so perfect for families.
These days ski resorts are not quiet places, with the ever-popular winter sports becoming more and more available due to new hotels, apartment blocks, and complexes shooting up in every direction you turn. That’s all except for St Martin de Belleville which, you’ll be pleased to hear, has managed to hold onto the traditional charm and alpine spirit associated with the French Alps. Yes, there are luxury hotels and new luxury super chalets cropping up, however, they have to comply with strict regulations set in place by the local authorities, which in short means this hidden alpine gem will stay true to its roots.

Is St Martin de Belleville good for families?

Yes! it an ideal place for a family ski holiday, whether that be the first time the little nippers strap skis to their feet, or they have left home only to crash mum and dad’s quiet week away. Located just over 2 hours from Geneva airport it is not the closest resort but by no means the furthest resort to transfer to either, making it much more appealing to family groups.

You’ll find St Martin modestly tucked away in the corner of the prestigious 3 Valleys ski resort, therefore providing incredible access to some of France’s best skiing, without the hefty price tag that comes along with areas such as Courchevel and Meribel. The old town itself is timeless and classic, with its beautiful traditional-style buildings and shops neatly sat on the mountainside, with a sensational view of the valley below.

The resort is home to a handful of amazing restaurants and friendly bars, which go hand in hand with the relaxed aura the town itself gives off, which also means that you won’t be subjected to the noise and chaos of large groups who over-indulged during apres-ski. The lift which connects you to the main ski area is easily accessible by foot and also allows you to ski back into town via the run directly underneath it, delivering you conveniently back into the resort where it is either a short walk to the center or an ideal place to be picked up by your chalet driver.

Chalets in St Martin de Belleville seem to hit differently, they offer the perfect hideout for families that are after comfort mixed with functionality. These beautiful mountain retreats are warm, spacious and provide a wonderful view down across the valley below, the perfect place to rest tired legs at the end of an amazing day skiing some of the incredible terrains that The 3 Valleys has to offer. The in-chalet staff are the perfect blend of attentive yet non-intrusive and subtle, they never crowd you whilst always having everything you need to ensure your winter holiday runs as smoothly as possible, meaning you’ll never miss a precious moment in the mountains, and that you really can make the most of your family time together.

I’ve hand-picked a selection of fabulous family-friendly chalets in St Martin de Belleville and highlighted a few of my favourite features, the perfect properties for your next winter escape.
