Around the car-free centre, tasteful stone and wood chalets have been constructed creating a truly picture-perfect resort.
La Tania links into the Courchevel side of the Three Valleys. In the morning you need to catch just 2 lifts and then you will be right in the heart of Courchevel 1850, or alternatively can head over into the Meribel valley. This seamless connection to the wider Three Valleys ski area is one of the main draws to La Tania, as you will feel like you are a million miles away from the bigger and glitzy resorts. The local skiing in La Tania is varied with some long cruisy blues, as well as some more challenging slopes. And it is perfect for beginners with a gentle green back into the village centre as well as a dedicated area for beginners, with cafes nearby for a hot chocolate break.
La Tania was initially developed in time for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics but has expanded significantly in the past decade. Nowadays La Tania is a small resort which is popular with skiers and snowboarders returning regularly to enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. La Tania is a pretty place, dotted with chocolate box chalets amongst the pine forests which line the pistes entering the main village which is a little more built up with some wooden-clad apartment-style buildings.
Part of the huge Three Valleys, there is no limit to the amount of skiing you can do during your luxury ski holiday to La Tania. With an altitude up to 3,200m and over 2,000 snow cannons, Les Trois Vallees will guarantee superb snow all season. La Tania further benefits with all its slopes being north-facing and will hold its snow until very late in April. The ski area is known for having some of the best snow conditions in the whole of the Alps!
La Tania is served by several exciting runs back into the resort, giving beginners and intermediates a welcome choice: blue through the trees, a wide red and the winding tree-lined green. The blue and green runs have excellent snow coverage along their entire length and wonderful views of the Tarantaise valley below.
At the end of the day the cruising Moretta Blanche red run, and the blue Folyeres piste sweeping gently through the trees are wonderful wide runs that take you back down to La Tania. For beginner and early intermediate skiers, the Plan Fontaine green slope is an ideal alternative from the top of the gondola back down into the resort.
During a heavy snowfall or in flat light, the tree-lined slopes above La Tania provide some of the most enjoyable skiing in the whole of the Trois Vallées, but its position off the beaten track means that the area is always under-used; always a benefit in the busy Three Valleys ski area.
Characteristically wide and well-groomed slopes make La Tania ideal for beginners, with a fun network of cruising slopes – Green and Blue, and even a free lift, the Troika lift, for beginners to practice on as they find their feet on the snow. Parents can watch from the nearby cafes, and beginners can rest their legs with a hot chocolate stop.
There’s a good choice of ski schools in La Tania with Oxygene being one of the stands out operations. They are known for fun & friendly group and private ski or snowboard lessons, for all ages & abilities
The French ski school (ESF) runs a municipal creche for children aged 18 months and up and offers special ski classes for children aged three and older.
The ski lifts here benefit from a special child-safety system installed across the Courchevel Valley that holds children safely in place on the chairlifts.
There is also a selection of private nannies in La Tania who can look after your little ones whilst you are out on the slopes. There are excellent facilities which include indoor climbing, tenpin bowling, ice karting, dog sledging and ice skating.
